Yersinia, the Collector

Few love the Plaguebringer, but all respect her power, and fear it. By her will alone do plagues rip through communities and the old grow senile, and by her will alone can these calamities be avoided.

Edicts: None, but donating treasure or magic at temples or small shrines is a good way to bribe her. Since so many people fall afoul of her Anathema, simply avoiding them studiously helps you get on her good side.

Anathema: Too many to list; being picky with your food, rooting through garbage or swamplands, staying outside when it’s raining, sleeping around too much, and not drinking enough water are very common ones to fall afoul of.

Divine Ability: Constitution or Intelligence
Divine Font: Assessor☨
Divine Skill: Medicine
Favoured Weapon: None (Sickle)
Domains: Plague, Decay, Healing, Pain

Cleric Spells: [2nd] Cleanse Affliction, [6th] Never Mind, [7th] Regenerate

Special: > Worship of Yersinia is one of the few ways to gain access to easy disease healing, and is the sole way to bestow diseases — other spellcasters cannot cast Cleanse Affliction to cure disease or poison, except with a scroll bought from the Yersinian priesthood (they can still remove curses, except ones such as lycanthropy or ghoul fever, which also count as a disease).

Not even a single household can afford to anger the Mother of Medicine, and it is never obvious, when the King takes ill, if he has offended the goddess of disease…or if someone has paid her more than the court healers to keep him sick. Yersinia is immanent and can be physically visited in the land of Autumn, and often sends her children to physically go out and harass, or reward, those whose lives she wants to meddle in.

One of the few ways for her clergy to gain her favour without simply paying her more is by reducing her workload via the study of medicine and surgery, and charging enormous fees for cures, so that the goddess can afflict even more people with plague without needing to bother personally curing them. One of the fastest ways for said clerics to lose favour, however, is to keep the money for themselves instead of promptly donating it to the goddess herself.

Assessor: This spell is identical to Heal, except as follows:

Assessor never heals any creatures which are currently diseased, and damages creatures with wasting illnesses or venereal diseases. Diseased creatures (except those with wasting illnesses or venereal diseases) gain a +2 circumstance bonus on their next save against the disease. In the case of multiple diseases, only the most advanced, or the one with the lowest DC, gains the bonus. Only one instance of this bonus can exist on any one character at any time, even if they have multiple diseases and are targeted by this spell multiple times.

Assessor does not damage inanimate undead, but deals significant damage to animate undead, such as ghouls and vampires. These creatures treat the result of their saving throws as one step worse (so a failure becomes a critical failure, a success becomes a failure, and a critical success becomes a success).

Special: Attract Autumnfae; 1/month

10 Minutes

You ask Yersinia to direct a travelling Autumnfae in the Second World to your vicinity. The faerie does not fight and will not move far from where you called them and remains only for 10 minutes. It starts as Indifferent instead of Unfriendly and is usually amenable to trades and questions, but will not make (fae) deals. It has merchandise equivalent to a travelling merchant of your level (see Shop Generator) plus some mundane goods. It does not carry food or water. You can buy on credit, but beware: you pay 120% for anything you buy on credit, and your outstanding debt doubles every ten days.
