Terrefroid

A winter-crop village south of Pontaubert, set between the Sallen Breach and Torredebosc and near enough that the two villages marry between themselves. Its land runs a good twelve degrees colder than it has any right to be, for Terrefroid keeps a frost nymph — Pagosaea, who has haunted its outskirts since the Fimbulwinter broke six Ascensions ago, and never quite thawed with it.

Against all expectation she is kind: she minds the villagers, mends their small troubles, and asks little in return. Terrefroid can grow only hardy winter crops in her chill — but it cuts and sells ice the summer long, a rare thing the dwarves of the Breach pay handsomely for. Two rules only: heed the ice statuettes that dot the hills (they are a warning), and never, ever remark how strange it is for a frost nymph to keep a land with no natural frost.
