The smoking peak that gives Les Dents de Vaudero their name — though it stands on the far side of the range, past the last road and the last field the colony keeps. What lies over the Dents is no colonist’s business: the mountain smokes, the wind sometimes carries its ash down onto the passes, and that is all anyone in Pontaubert cares to know.
