Here sits the Duchess of Langres, the aging viceroy Aliénor, from whom the crown of Eoran’s holdings across the water is governed: a line four centuries deep, and a thorn in the side of every King of Eoran since.
To a villager who knows it at all it is a name attached to distant authority and the tithe — streets imagined and never once walked.
